“There isn't a way things should be. There's just what happens, and what we do.” -Sir Terry Pratchett
To me, therapy is a tool that can be used to build curiosity and compassion for ourselves and those in our communities. Amidst times of chaos and overwhelming emotion, we are all presented with opportunities to act in accordance with our values. When we make choices with intention and care, even difficulties that feel the most insurmountable are made a little more bearable.
I am a firm believer in humor as a part of therapy. I strive to strike a balance between holding space for the painful things with unconditional care, and making room for joy, laughter and direct discussions.
My approach...
I use tools from Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Gottman-style Therapy, collaborating with you to develop a plan of therapy that meets your needs. I view the work of therapy through a systemic lens, meaning that I believe our perspective on ourselves is shaped by our family, our experiences and the society we grow up in. I will always ask my clients "Is this a problem for you, or has someone told you that it's a problem for you?"
I specialize in working with adults and teens across the gender continuum, as well as couples or polycules. As a sex therapist, I am trained in desire discrepancy, shame deconstruction and overall sexual health and wellbeing. I have worked with clients in the past on gender exploration and transition support.
