Hello and welcome! I know picking a therapist can be hard. I have a personal and professional history of doing hard things and love supporting others who are in similar situations.
Therapy is a space for you to explore your own inner world in order to get a better understanding of who you are and how you interact with the world. I love helping others do exactly this. We will work together to understand who you are and what you need in order to improve resilience and help you live a more fulfilling life.
My approach...
Life can be hard in so many ways. Therapy doesn't have to be. I hope to create a space for you to breathe and focus on yourself. We all carry heavy burdens and therapy is a space for you to lighten the load and learn to navigate life more effectively.
You can expect some weird analogies and someone to call you out on things with loads of compassion and zero judgment. I love helping others become their very best selves and look forward to the opportunity to help you on that journey.
I've been told that I have a strong and calming presence. I've also been told that I can be a bit sarcastic and direct and I'd have to agree with all of this. You can expect an honest and direct approach to treatment that is compassionate, empathetic, and challenging at times. I hope to be a supportive presence that helps you unlock what has been holding you back from living your authentic and embodied life.
I use the analogy of bowling to describe our work together. You and I will identify the goals you hope to achieve during our time together. Those become the pins. You come to sessions, ready to talk and we do work together, this is the ball. My role is to serve as the bumpers and guide the work to increase the chances we knock the pins down.
Professional training & memberships...
For my undergraduate studies, I attended Seattle Pacific University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. During this time, I focused my studies on the physiology of psychology and loved learning about the brain and body connection. After this, I attended Antioch University in Seattle and earned my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on trauma.
Although my education was instrumental in my ability to be a therapist, I find a great deal of my education comes from my work. Clients, podcasts, books, videos, lectures, help inform my approach and practice. I also have over 20 years in leadership, including executive leadership and have gained a wealth of knowledge from these experiences. As a result, I love working with those in leadership as it comes with very unique challenges. I also work a lot with individuals in the tech industry and also those in healthcare.
