Alex Pessemier, Clinical Intern
Pronouns: they/she
I believe that healing happens in relationships, and that everyone deserves to be compassionately heard and understood. For those of us that feel “different”, it can be especially challenging to find a safe person to share our feelings with. My goal as a counselor is to provide that safe
relationship to facilitate healing and growth. Some of the identities that shape how I show up include being queer, gender non-conforming, polyamorous and neurodivergent.
My approach...
I approach therapy as a collaborative process, tailoring our work together to each client’s specific goals, lived experiences, and evolving needs. I aim to offer a responsive and inclusive therapeutic experience, drawing from a range of integrative modalities including attachment theory, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), feminist theory, and existential theory.
At the foundation of my work is a deep commitment to honoring each person’s strengths, identities, and contexts. I prioritize a systems-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive lens.
Professional training & memberships...
I am a Master of Arts student at Antioch University Seattle in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Prior to grad school I earned a BA in Anthropology with a specialty in Globalization and a minor in Gender, Women, and Sexuality studies at the University of Washington. I have completed additional training on domestic violence and substance use
through my employment at Family Law CASA of King County. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE).
