"One of the things that baffles me... is how there can be so much lingering stigma with regards to mental illness..."

- Carrie Fisher

I find beauty and strength in these matter-of-fact words by author/ actress/icon Carrie Fisher. I wholeheartedly agree that mental health in general, and conditions that cause distress in particular, should be destigmatized. How can we discuss things that cannot be named? Opening up the discussion, philosophy, exploration, and discoveries around one's mental health is central to how I work with clients.

I specialize in working with adults and teens, particularly individuals from fandom and alternative cultures who may or may not have felt understood or accepted by counselors from outside of their subculture communities. To help my clients feel understood, I am eager to learn about new art, games, music, books/graphic novels, movies, television shows, and experiences that hold meaning for my therapy clients.

I get to know each client and tailor my interventions to meet your unique needs, taking into account your feedback, identities, and social and community roles. Co-creating the structure of therapy with clients is a wonderful honor that I do not take lightly or for granted.

I view people as inherently strong, ultimately resilient and inherently having great value, even when individuals suffer from mental health strains and conditions. A strength-centered approach informs my outlook both at work and in my personal life. I studied strength-centered counseling with Dr. Colin Ward (he literally wrote the book on this topic) and use it in much of my work with clients. My quest is to help you also find, or remember, the worth, value, and resilience inherent in you.

My training also includes existential psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), common factors counseling, person-centered counseling, play therapy, telehealth/distance therapy, couples therapy, and more.
