It is a privilege to watch someone overcome obstacles and grow into their own happiness. I can help clients look at what isn't working in their life and relationships and move into who they want to be. Therapy is a journey- your own personal space- where you have the room to question and receive support on larger questions and struggles, and also smaller things that just aren't going the way you'd like. It’s a safe space for growth and maintenance. When we can stay out of crisis, it's amazing what growth can happen in our lives.

My approach...

As a gay clinician, I believe there is no such thing as one correct or direct path, and every client's own beliefs and expressions are valid. I also believe that sometimes our beliefs can limit us. I believe our environment and information we have inherited from our families, and the world around us can enrich us or oppress us. I help you examine how cultural narratives impact how your view yourself and your potential.

My approach is to be kind and welcoming, and also direct in a gentle way. For therapy to be as beneficial as can be, trust has to be earned and built through the therapeutic process. I believe you know your own life and experience more accurately than anyone else, and I am present for support. I like to help find the strengths and solutions a person has and help you understand and build on your unique skills.

I’m passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community exploring cultural influence and standards, sexual and gender identity, and the coming out process. I also specialize in working with the topic of religion and spirituality and how these influence and intersect your other identities. I have experience working with children and families and especially love working with teens.

I use an eclectic approach gathering from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), art therapy, emotional focused therapy (EFT), internal family systems (IFS), strength based, solution focused, attachment theories, and narrative therapy. Art therapy can be a powerful tool used as another outlet for processing information outside of talk therapy and gives clients other avenues for exploring thoughts and emotions.

Professional training & memberships...

I hold a bachelors in K-12 art education from University of Northern Colorado, and a dual Masters in Couples and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Antioch University Seattle. I and currently a member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
