Becoming a parent is hard. It is hard emotionally. It is hard physically. It is hard relationally. Together we can make it a little less hard.

You are not alone in this. People experience a myriad of emotions during this phase of life, and sometimes, our mental health can suffer. I primarily work with pregnant persons, new parents and caregivers, young children (5 and under) and their families, children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as neurodivergent children and/or neurodivergent parents.

As a Child and Family Therapist trained in Infant and Perinatal Mental Health, I am honored to provide you support as you enter into this new phase of life. Whether you are contemplating pregnancy and just starting your family or you have a couple children already and want some validation and guidance, we can journey together.

My approach...

One of my favorite parts about working with parents is helping them realize just how well they really are doing. I am excited to meet you and help you see that too.

My work is grounded in a belief that meaningful change happens through collaboration, respect and a strong therapeutic relationship. My primary method in therapy is establishing a strong therapeutic relationship and co-creating a brave space for you and with you. I support children and families to build on strengths, gain new tools and skills, and address your concerns. When we meet, we will examine what is bringing you (and/or your family) to therapy and come up with a plan as to how I may be of support to you through the process of reaching your goals. Inclusive as well as trauma informed/sensitive and social justice care models are at the heart of the way I work.

I use a very relationship-focused approach in my work. If your young child is the "identified client," parents are incredibly involved in the process; supporting the attachment bond between children and caregivers is centered. If newly post-partum parents are the "identified client," infants and young children are often involved. I believe we live in a family, so family should be part of our healing. We figure out together how that looks. I also use tools from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), attachment, and play therapies in our work.

If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a specific situation or you're just wanting someone to talk to who is not going to judge your parenting choices, I look forward to working with you to help you feel more confident and prepared.

Professional training & memberships...

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and approved Supervisor in the State of Washington – license # LH.60829118. I received my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. Through my work in community mental health and child & family programs, I completed the requirements to be recognized as a Mental Health Professional, Child Mental Health Specialist, and Disability Mental Health Specialist through the Washington Department of Social and Health Services.

I am Endorsed® as an Infant Mental Health Specialist through the Center for Early Relational Health (previously the Washington Association for Infant Mental Health) and Certified as a Perinatal Mental Health Specialist through Postpartum Support International. (Infant Mental Health is the focus on a child's emotional and social development from pregnancy through 5 years old and the relationship with caregivers. Perinatal Mental Health is a birthing person's mental health from pre-pregnancy through the first year post birth.) I maintain a strong dedication to continuing education, and I am even currently participating in a 15-month-long clinical training program regarding pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood.

I consistently integrate person-centered, somatic, strengths-based, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT+) as trained through the Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), infant and early childhood attachment and development, play therapies(experiential), family systems, mindfulness practices, and others depending on your needs and desires for the course of treatment.
