Margaret Hotchkiss,

Pronouns: she/they

Clinical Intern

I believe healing happens in relationship - with ourselves, our families, our communities, and our bodies. My philosophy of care integrates systemic and somatic approaches through a biopsychosocial and ecological lens, recognizing that every person's story is shaped by the relationships and environments they inhabit. As a transnational adoptee and professional dance and movement artist, I value the wisdom of embodied experience and strive to create a collaborative, restorative space where clients are the experts and co-authors of their own stories. Together, we can navigate life's "stress ballet" with curiosity, creativity, and resilience.

My approach...

My work is grounded in Structural Family Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, and experiential approaches inspired by Virginia Satir. I work collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families to explore patterns of interaction, strengthen connection, and support meaningful change. I believe that "the problem is the problem; the person is not the problem," and I help clients externalize challenges while discovering new possibilities and strengths.

As someone with a background in the expressive arts, I also appreciate the role of movement, creativity, and embodied awareness in the healing process. Whether through conversation, experiential exercises, or creative exploration, I seek to foster a therapeutic environment where clients can deepen self-understanding, build resilience, and develop more authentic relationships with themselves and others.

Professional training & memberships...

I am a Master’s level student at Antioch University New England in the Master’s in Dance/Movement Therapy program with a concentration in Couples and Family Therapy.. Before Antioch I earned my BFA at Cornish College of the Arts. I am a student member, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT)
