I believe healing needs to have a good mix of three things: cackling, cursing, and crying. Whether it’s cursing at the world, exploring past traumas, or (jokingly) waving a magic wand to wish away the pain and hurt, my goal is to find a path towards healing that works for you.
I aim to create not just a safe space but also a place where you can be brave and bold in exploring your past experiences of pain, trauma and grief. In challenging and confronting what is holding us back, I believe we can find a life of healing, joy and strength.
My approach...
I draw from several modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatics, and Attachment Theory. There is no “one size fits all” therapy modality. Your experiences and self are unique and, therefore, require a unique, individualized healing process. And, my goal is to help you find that.
My therapeutic practice is always grounded in an anti-oppressive, anti-racist and intersectional feminist lens. I believe that these systems of power and oppression impact each of us on an individual level, influencing how we interact with others and ourselves. In examining our experiences and relationships with these systems and institutions, I believe we can find a source of hope, sustainability and empowering defiance.
Professional training & memberships...
I obtained both a Master of Social Work (2024) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2021) at the University of Washington.
Prior to my graduate training, I worked across the social work sector including teaching ESL, working at a crisis call center, and providing case management services for gender affirming care and recently incarcerated individuals.
Ryan is in-network with Premera, Cigna, Regence, Aetna, First Choice, Kaiser, LifeWise, Anthem and some other Blue Cross plans. Please be aware that Protea Wellness cannot accept insurance for couple's therapy.
