Hello! I am happy you found me! I am a white, queer, transgender man with a penchant for sass and sarcasm.
I often ask people "why therapy and why now?" The response of many is that they're navigating uncertain political times, racism, transphobia, ableism, sexism, cultural erasure, on-going systemic violence and economic marginalization. And as a result people often feel anxious or depressed, develop PTSD symptoms, face tough family of origin dynamics, relationship issues, grief, loss and social isolation. My hope is that while we co-create a warm, humorous and open therapy space, we can also address how to navigate the systems that work to separate and oppress us all.
Many 2SLGBTQIA+ people feel disconnected from their bodies, so I would also like to help heal the brain-body-spirit connection to help restore nervous system regulation and your reconnection to physical embodiment. I would like to support your work towards inner trust, managing mental "spirals," and working to soothe the nervous system.
My approach...
My passion is to work with Queer and Questioning adults (18+), parents or caregivers of Queer and Transgender children and elders. I have experience working with survivors of violence, family estrangement, historical trauma, those impacted by the foster care system, justice system involved individuals, those exploring neurodivergence and people recovering from spiritual trauma.
I use an approach incorporating somatic based modalities with Narrative Therapy, CBT, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, Strengths-based, attachment focused and DBT. I also draw from Anti-oppressive frameworks, Queer and Feminist theory, as well as Cultural Therapy.
