We are built to be in relationship - interconnected - and we are built to heal.

The therapeutic relationship is a collaboration, a courageous journey toward healing, self-discovery and transformation - it involves the cultivation of authenticity, compassion and acceptance.

I believe collaboration is central to cultivating belonging, building community and establishing meaningful relationships. It is foundational to our mental and physical health and well-being.

Dissolving barriers, accessing individual agency and cultivating connections with others, step by step, I collaborate with my clients to develop a plan, a path to integration and wholeness.

Accessing our body's wisdom, our imagination, our felt sense, our intuition - all are essential to integration and transformation.

My approach...

I believe the therapeutic encounter is an inner journey to wholeness, wellness and oneness, a movement toward empowered living, an opportunity to embrace one’s inherent goodness, to live authentically; it is a process of healing and transformation.

The therapeutic alliance is a collaboration centered around accessing and cultivating your strengths and resources; uncovering and discovering your blocks and challenges; investigating your patterns, stories, perspectives and habits of thought and related behaviors and engaging with imaginal ways of knowing as a means to access your inner wisdom and authenticity.

As the journey unfolds, we continue to collaborate to define next steps and a way forward. Stress, depression, anxiety, discontentment, confusion and frustration, all aspects of disconnection from our vital inner knowing and from others, are facets of being human that can be addressed and explored.

Trauma informed awareness and insight is key to the healing journey.

Professional training & memberships...

Prior to receiving an MA in Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM, I enjoyed a challenging and fulfilling career as a theatre artist and educator, practicing and guiding others in what is essentially the art and craft of empathy – acting and directing. Over the span of almost 40 years, I lived and worked in Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle. My undergraduate work was in the theatre (BFA/Acting, Ohio University),
as was my previous graduate work (MFA/Directing, University of Southern California).
After graduation from SWC, I worked at Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, a community mental health clinic in Santa Fe, NM.

My therapeutic orientation centers around a psychodynamic, humanistic, existential and experiential framework. I tend to work with approaches that are postmodernist, insight and process oriented, trauma informed, and have a social justice, feminist and multicultural lens.

Under that umbrella, these are some modalities I am trained in and most influenced by: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Lifespan Integration (LI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Jungian Active Imagination and Archetypes, and Psychodrama. I have a certificate in Addiction and
Recovery from New Earth Institute at SWC.

I am licensed in NM (LMHC) and in WA (LMHCA).
